Chaos Theory Event Patch Notes
♦ Buffed Champions
- Pathfinder • No longer has the "Low Profile" passive.
Developer Note : It can be said that Low Profile is used as a balancing setting. Although Pathfinder is still quite active after this situation, the hitbox size is large enough. While the overall win rate is certainly not low, it's hard to justify keeping Low Profile above the hitbox of its size.
- Revenant
• Revenant's Silence now disables Mirage's Cloaked revive & Respawn and Octane's Swift Mend.
- Wattson • Wattson now has passive shield regen at 0.5 hp/s (half Octane's current health regen).
- Rampart • Explosives deal normal damage to Amped Cover instead of 200 damage. • Explosives normally deal damage to Sheila instead of dealing 175 damage.
♦ Nerfed Champions
- Gibraltar • Removed the 15% speed to use healing item while in the Dome of Protection.
- Horizon • Black Hole cooldown increased from 2 minutes to 3 minutes.
Developer's Note : Horizon's ultimate can be very effective in fights, but it has been one of the shorter cooldowns. The 180 second cooldown is now more in line with other offensive ultimates like Bloodhound's Beast of the Hunt or Bangalore's Rolling Thunder.
- Caustic
• Nox Gas Grenade cooldown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.
• Nox Gas will deal damage at a flat rate of 5hp instead of increasing from 6hp to 12hp.
Developer Note : Caustic is a very effective character at slowing down conflicts. His entire kit consists of slowing, blocking vision, and dealing damage around the gas he uses over a wide area of effect. He's known to play oppressively in many gameplay scenarios, especially considering his teammates can be gassed relatively unscathed. The character can be played in a defensive or aggressive game style if you want. With the reduction of gas damage significantly, it can be said that the character is nerfed, but will still be very effective in team fights.
♦ Weapon Updates
- Weapon Optics
• All gold AR and LMG default optical sights updated to 2x Bruiser.
- Wingman
• The magazine capacity has been increased by +1 including the standard magazine.
- Mastiff
• Pellet damage reduced from 13 → 11.
• Fire rate increased from 1.0 → 1.1.
Developer Note : The purpose of these changes is to place the identity of this weapon between the rapid-fire EVA-8 and the heavy-hitting Peacekeeper. The Mastiff has consistently dominated close-range engagements due to its forgiving spread pattern and high damage increases with each shot. This change reduces this high damage potential to limit the amount of two pumps players experience on the receiving end.
- Hemlock
• Fire dispersion has been increased.
Developer Note : The burst damage from Hemlok's hip-fire felt a little too consistent for an AR that was supposed to excel at mid-range. This change is aimed at reducing Hemlok's close-quarter damage spikes that feel bad on the receiving end.
♦ Quality of Life Changes
- Kings Canyon Loot - While keeping a certain amount of loot after Mirage Voyage flies away, we've made a toggle on the loot to improve the quality of the map.
→ Each of the wooden huts on the map should have a few more pieces and usually be of slightly better quality.
→ Spotted Lake has been reduced from High to Medium Quality.
→ Crash Site has slightly redistributed the loot in the region. The quantity remains the same, but higher quality loot should be on board.
→ Caustic Treatment has more loot than Water Treatment and remains Hiqh Quality. - Locked Weapon Optics Swap - For weapons with fully locked mounts, such as fully equipped gold weapons and most crate weapons, you can now remove the optic and replace it with a different sight. Does not apply to Kraber sniper rifle.
- Added assists to the in-game interface alongside kills. It was already available in Ranked and is now added to Unranked. Assists still don't contribute to XP. It just replaced the Spectator "eye" icon.
- Assists and Kicks have been added to your team's banners and will be displayed at the end of the match.
- Club names will now appear in the Highlights and Champion screens if all players are part of the same club.
- Items will no longer "stick" to the Crafting Replicator when dropped into the Replicator.
- Badge Progression - For badges with longer progression, hovering over the badge will show you more information. For example, if you're trying to get 50 wins as a Lifeline, you'll find that you now have 45 instead of somewhere between 15 and 50.
- Ping My Death Box - When respawning on a ship ship, you can now ping your own death box to help it be more easily found.
- Gold Backpack - Players who revive with a golden backpack will have an energy crackle based on the armor level they wore during the spawn. They will also show the armor healing effect when the respawn ends. This change will help players prioritize forcing an ongoing revival.
- Layers on PC can now switch back from the lobby to the title screen to allow switching data centers without restarting the game.
- Added numbers to Advanced View Controls. This should help people try it out and easily go back to their favorite settings.
- When scanning for a sign for Ring 6, you should now be able to see where Ring 6 ends.
- Inspect Weapon - Since Survival Slot got its button on the controller, Weapon Inspection has been moved to the emote wheel by default. It can be connected to any key on the PC.
