Rainbow Six Siege Applies a Fix for 'Elo Glitch'

Ubisoft is releasing a fix for Rainbow Six Siege's ongoing "Elo Glitch" bug. Check out the article for more information.

In the new Crimson Heist season of Rainbow Six Siege , a new bug has surfaced involving the Ranked Matchmaking Rating ( MMR ) of players. The main complaint of players posting about the error on social media and community pages was that teams could manipulate the amount of MMR they will gain or lose in a game by having one of the players leave and rejoin the game. However, users who abuse this " Elo Glitch " system will no longer be able to do so after today's fix.

The developer company Ubisoft said in a post on the subject on Twitter; On April 19, we will be implementing a fix aimed at resolving the MMR exploit known in the community as the 'Elo Bug'. Players affected by this exploit may have noticed their opponents leaving their matches and rejoining, resulting in erratic MMR wins/losses. With this update this can no longer happen. "

Rainbow Six Siege publisher and former pro player George "KingGeorge" Kassa released a clip earlier this month outlining what the glitch was causing with this Elo Bug . Essentially, he explains that if a player accidentally or intentionally leaves the game and then returns, it will cause their team to receive a smaller Elo if they lose the match or gain more Elo if they win. The broadcaster also explained that the effect would be the opposite for the opposing team, making things more difficult for Elo. So it's not hard to see how this could pose a problem for fair matchmaking.

The Siege community was getting quite annoyed by the current Ranked mode, especially at higher ranks where people abused the match cancel feature, used "E lo Glitch ", and even hacked it. But now at least one of these issues will be fixed with the new fix. Community developer Eric Pope has stated that some further updates to the match cancellation system will be made in the Y6S1.3 patch update , which will soon be released to the PC test server. The April 19 fix will be released today at 13:00 UTC for PC, and one hour and two hours later for Xbox and PlayStation , respectively.
