Riot Replaces XP and Gold in LoL 2023 Pre-Season

The Pre-Season update for League of Legends is coming soon as soon as the XP and Gold changes are made.

The new 2023 Pre-Season update will bring many changes and additions to League of Legends . Major additions, Alchemy Dragon changes, new Ping system, voting feature, new items , jungle etc. These changes are crucial as they will change the landscape of League of Legends for 2023.

Likewise, getting into the preseason of League of Legends is an exciting part of trying out new changes and enjoying the game. Another part of the new season 13 changes is the overall XP and Gold earned from different roles.

LoL Season 2023 XP and Gold Updates

Parts of the game receive gold and XP changes . Since the changes are different roles, let's start with the corridors and then move on to the jungle changes.

XP and Gold are swapped in mid and top lane. In terms of gold, it's mainly mid lane, while the XP change affects both mid and top lane.

Lane XP and Gold

We're also making some adjustments to make top laners stronger than mid and low lane players and reach level thresholds with important items in a shorter time. To sum it up, mid and top laners now gain more XP, bottom lane duo less XP, and mid lane less gold.

♦ Middle Hallway

All mid lane minions will subtract 1 gold in the first 14 minutes of the game. -1 gold is added to the already existing -10 gold from mid lane top minions.
Mid lane will get 95% XP instead of 93% XP.

Mid lane gold changes aren't too big as the total number doesn't mean a big loss. While mid lane is receiving a slight XP buff, it naturally stops its players from attacking earlier. There's also a slight increase in XP, so the gold drop and XP boost should balance each other out for the mid lane.

Top lane will get 95% XP instead of 93% XP.

Top lane reflects mid lane XP as the lead is a bit more and should help top lane breakpoints hit sooner.

Jungle XP and Gold

The jungle is getting a lot of changes, including reduced leash range, pets, and the like. Let's start with all of them one by one.

♦ Gold and XP Changes Due to Pets and Jungle Item

At 2:30 minutes into the game, and at every minute interval from that point forward, the player wins a jackpot for the jungle (the treats stack). Each time a large monster (the big monster in the camp) is killed, the pet is given a reward that gives 50 gold per reward. At the highest jungle item level, rewards are given every 1:30 minutes instead of 1 minute.
Bonus XP gained from jungle items and pets increased from 60 XP to 75 XP.

Junglers will naturally get more gold throughout the game. However, not so much in a single win example. But in a 30-minute game, for example, it's a significant amount of gold.

♦ Camp Changes

Krugs, Wolves and Raptors are worth less gold and XP.
In general, jungle camps have less XP to compensate for the 15 Bonus XP earned due to jungle items.
Gold is being reduced in all camps to make up for gold earned from pet treats.

All camp changes are compatible with the XP and gold boost given from jungle item and pets. However, it will need to be tweaked as the changes affect live servers. We hope the balancing is done until the pre-season is over.

Altogether, quite a few minor changes are made, apart from forest changes. Jungle gold will be a more stable income, while most will turn to fast-paced games.
