League of Legends fans have chosen Skarner asthe next champion to receive a rework update . It's been 12 years since LoL was released; The game has become more advanced, while the main objective remains the same. The developers have added new mechanics and many champions to make the game more competitive and engaging for players. One downside to this was that the old champions looked more outdated compared to the new champions added to the game.
The League of Legends dev team is aware of this fact and has been working on it, such that over the last few years they have started conducting polls where fans can vote to choose which champion will get the next rework update . Recently, the champion that received a full overhaul was Udyr . Everything from the character design to their various skins has received a new skin update. Now Skarner will be the next champion to receive the VGU update.

In the poll, Skarner took the top spot with around 33% of the total votes , and the other four League of Legends champions didn't even get 20% of the votes. Skarner defeated Tryndamere, Shyvana, Kog'maw and Nocturne, who are also on the list of champions to get overhaul.
However, Executive Producer Ryan Mireles stated that Shyvana is the next champion to receive a rework update at the dev team's decision, without any polls . Additionally, Gothic skins won the poll with the most votes and thus will receive a "costume thematic refresh".
Skarner is a crystal scorpion living in an unknown abandoned valley in Shurima. Part of the now dormant Brackern race, Skarner is known for his wisdom and deep connection to the earth. The only vigilant member of his race, the champion is determined to protect his own kind from people who want to harm them.
The developers have made minor tweaks to Skarner's kit in the past, but this hasn't resulted in any increase in the champion's play rate. That's why a massive overhaul of Skarner's kit, theme and visuals is being considered (as in Sion and Urgot). The champion will be completely redesigned, apart from the ability to take away opponents with his ultimate.
Skarner's rework update will provide him with a new base model, new skins, and updated abilities that align it with the modern aesthetic of League of Legends .
