The Champions Tour, Riot Games ' first attempt at an official international tournament for Valorant , is about to kick off in a few days. The entire tournament will be a year-long regional competition, finally culminating in an international champions event at the end of 2021, such as the League of Legends World Championship. The Champions Tour will be Valorant 's biggest competition yet, and Riot has finally announced the circuit structure that will come into play in the competition along with the intended format.
Valorant Champions Tour Format
ValorantThe champions round will kick off with the Challenger series matches starting this month. There will be a total of three group Challenger events, each spanning three weekends. Open qualifiers will allow 8 teams to participate in each set, and only the top 4 teams from each set will qualify for the round that will take place next weekend. The top 4 of the second weekend will advance to the Challenger Final, while the remaining 4 will be allowed to pass the third weekend qualifiers. Representatives of each region will be determined during the Challenger finals. Agents will continue to play the three main events.
Valorant Region Distribution for 16 Teams
- Three Teams from North America (Oceanic teams can qualify via NA)
- Four Teams from Europe (Independent, Turkey and Middle East/North African teams will qualify via EU)
- Two Teams From Brazil
- Two Teams From Korea
- Two Teams From Japan
- Two Teams from Southeast Asia
- A Team from Latin America
Valorant teams participating in their events will have the opportunity to earn points and participate in the Champions event that will take place later in the year. More importantly, the team that wins the Masters event finals will be automatically included in the final event, regardless of the points they have accumulated.
Valorant Champions Tour Calendar
ValorantThe exact schedule of Champions round proceedings is not yet known, but it has been confirmed that the first Challenger events will take place at the end of January 2021. Challenger events for various regions will start with LATAM on January 26 and take place on January 30 with Brazil and Korea on different dates. North American teams will take part from February 3-7, while the European competition will begin on February 4. The Valorant Champions Tour for Southeast Asia begins on February 5 and February 11 for the CIS region.
