The Leviathan Ax (ax) was the first weapon Kratos had in our God of War adventure and was with him from the beginning to the end . Kratos can swing this ax if he wants, he can throw it and call it back to him. You need to collect Frozen Flame to upgrade this ax and make it stronger. When it reaches the final level, the ax changes its appearance and increases its strength. You can also unlock new combos and moves for the ax with the XP you collect throughout your adventure. On top of all this, when two runes are added to the weapon, the gameplay of the ax flows like water, it does not bore the player.
The God of War Leviathan Ax was forged by two sister dwarves, Brok and Sindri. Everyone knows them as the Huldra brothers. These brothers also made Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. But after the hammer's destruction on all 9 realms, the dwarves hope for the opposite and build Leviathan, inspired by Jörmungandr's gigantic size. When we first spoke to Sindri, he said that the ax contained the screams of 12 ice trolls as it was being made. Also, this ax was made for Laufey and left to his wife Kratos before his death.

We use Leviathan a lot when controlling Kratos in God of War. Kratos can swing this ax at enemies, crushing them, and throwing and pulling them back. The ax destroys burning enemies with its freezing feature. With these features of the ax, you unlock new combos and movement schemes as you progress through the game. For example, when you throw the ax, you can trouble an enemy for seconds, or you can cause Kratos to circle around and damage the enemies. In some puzzles in the game, you throw the spinning wheels to freeze the mechanism and keep the doors open. While the ax is covered in ice, it also freezes enemies thrown, allowing Kratos to be alone with his fists.
You will need the Frozen Flame item to make the Leviathan ax max level . You can find this item while playing the main story, but if you miss it, you can find it while visiting the realms after finishing the game. After you find it, you need to take it to Sindri or Brok. We use only 5 items of Frozen Flame while developing the ax and we don't even pay a nick of silver.
Without any spoilers, let's start by telling you where to find the 5 Frozen Flames;
It's where we first met Brok. We get it as a kind of reward after helping Brok move his car.
We fight a troll as we meet Sindri and climb the mountain. We receive a Frozen Flame as a reward.
In the lower parts of the mountain, there is an elevator that goes to the summit in the mine. We get to the top with this elevator and fight another troll. We get Frozen Flame as a reward.
In "The Magic Chisel" there is a Frozen Flame beneath Thamur the Giant's lifeless body. This quest is almost impossible to miss as it is the main story quest.
After completing the entire main story, Sindri will sell you the Frozen Flame. However, you can get the freezing fog of Nifleheim item required to get the item from a chest located in the middle of the maze simply by going to Nifleheim. You must collect 5000 Mist Echoes to open the chest. After doing the necessary, you can go to Sindri and get the Frozen Flame and level up your axe.
Each time you upgrade the Leviathan Ax , Kratos' power is also increased. You also unlock new motion diagrams. Don't forget to maximize Leviathan as early as possible, as it's a weapon you'll use throughout the entire game. See you for now!
