Project Borealis is an attempt by former Valve writer Marc Laidlaw to turn the Half-Life 2: Episode 3 synopsis released in August into a full game. The last one-year update shows good progress. According to a Reddit post from the development team, the story is halfway done. While player movement and weapon functionality are complete, there is still a lot of testing to be done.
“The writing team took the first Epistle 3 story submitted by Marc and broke it down into critical plot points. They then did what was needed to fill in the blanks and add a full and compelling story to the feel and feel of the Half Life universe. Working with this more detailed story, the first 1/2 design It's almost completed and under review by their team," they said.
The mission contains a mix of 3D models from concept art and games; Arctic headcrab concept (above) and a completed Strider model (below) providing highlights. If you're into details, you'll find 3D models for the iconic Gravity Gun and the beefy Spas-12 rifle.
The team also released a few atmospheric music tracks that made their way into the final game. Artists and level designers came together to work on the project.
