Following the release of Destiny 2 on PC this week , some concerns began to emerge regarding the use of seemingly harmless software such as Discord, Fraps, Mumble, and Xsplit . Players reported that running these programs was prohibited while playing Destiny 2 , Bungie enlightened us on this issue and said that none of these programs existed.
When the reports started to be examined when the bans for the use of the mentioned software began to appear, players began to be warned on Reddit . It was alleged that the use of any of these programs would be subject to a ban; It was a real concern as Bungie 's support site did not have the right to appeal to banned players. “Continuous account bans exercise strict control so that the innocent as well as the guilty are not punished,” he says. “Account restrictions and bans are only done in extreme cases, if the transactions were made against your account.”
Bungie has confirmed that it has banned approximately 400 players on PC . It's worth noting, however, that these are not done automatically - Bungie investigates every single incident before releasing it to the banhammer . These 400 players were "using tools that pose a threat to the game's shared ecosystem." prohibited for the reason. In other words, chatting via Discord is not banned.
"We have not and will not make any bans on using overlays or performance tools , including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS , etc." It also added that it rolled over four bans from the PC beta, directing players to this post for more detailed information on compatibility between the game and third-party software.
