Valorant's ranking system has been in big trouble since its official release.
Both amateur and professional players were quite disappointed with how the ranked matchmaking and MMR system played. And to make matters worse, the person behind Valorant's ranked matchmaking and rank system left the company in July, leaving Riot Games in a tight spot.
A game mode that is supposed to be Valorant's most positive aspect has turned out to be one of its most overwhelming and sometimes infuriating features.
NRG's popular broadcaster and professional Valorant player Brandon " Aceu " Winn went on the air to talk about how bad it is to have poor matchmaking in the rankings right now. He said he 'can't stand' ranked games, and one of the biggest problems for him is that players who don't deserve to be ranked higher are there because they 'form their own way'.
As long as there are five, " inflated ranks " climbing up the leaderboard , and you can't accurately represent the current skill level of a particular player.
This causes a lot of problems for single queue players paired with such teammates, and it makes for an incredibly frustrating ranked experience, as Aceu implied. Moreover, the fact that a team of 5 can queue up against solo players causes serious balance problems, which makes the game very unfair and one-sided.
Last night, Valorant's game director, Joe Ziegler , took to Twitter to address the sequential system issues and talked about how the developers are planning to change many aspects of the ratings:
Joe Ziegler:
“Hi everyone, on the design side we are currently analyzing the ranking system from top to bottom.
We are investigating changes that will improve many aspects of competition, but have yet to offer any solutions. Thanks everyone for their feedback! "
The changes Riot Games will bring to Valorant 's ranked system is something no one anticipated. However, fans think that using something similar to the League of Legends system , Riot Games ' other game, would work.
