World of Tanks remains one of the biggest games in the world for players. According to the latest issue of Wargaming, there are 130 million players on PC alone . You might have expected a sequel from Wargaming , given the game's massive success over the past seven years, but it doesn't look like it will.
Speaking today at PAX Aus on the GameSpot Theater stage , Wargaming regional editorial director Alex de Giorgio directly asked if World of Tanks 2 was on the cards. Giorgio's response was "World of Tanks 2? No." was in shape.
Wargaming sees World of Tanks as a service game, and the studio is constantly updating and growing. Since this is the case, it looks like there won't be a sequel anytime soon.
"This continuous evolution has been the game's hallmark," Giorgio says, adding that a sequel to World of Tanks wouldn't really make sense.
Wargaming 's stance is pretty similar to what Psyonix has to say about Rocket League and what Brendan Greene has to say about the uber-popular game PUBG. In any case, the developers have stated that they will continue to update and improve the games with regular content rather than immediately updating them.
