1. Gambit Esports
Gambit's prowess was talked about for months before he faced teams outside of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). They won the Tier 1 Masters for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region and did quite well in the EMEA Tier 2 qualifiers, but failed to qualify for the Masters: Reykjavík. However, they qualified for Masters: Berlin and claimed the win. They then reached the grand finals at Valorant Champions , the first year-end championship event in Valorant esports history . Gambit, who achieved a regional title, an international title and second place in the Valorant world championship , was the best Valorant team in the first two years of the game.it happened. Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the team has not been competing as Gambit lately, and it is unclear whether or not the players currently known as M3C will represent Gambit again.
2. OpTic Gaming
OpTic Gaming (the team formerly known as Envy before the two organizations merged) is a close second to Gambit for its place in Valorant history since 2020. Like Gambit, OpTic won an international championship and finished second in another international event. Ironically, he finished second behind Gambit at OpTic Masters: Berlin. After a disappointing performance at Champions, they continued North America's tradition of winning Masters: Reykjavik. With the Masters: Copenhagen qualifiers underway, OpTic looks set to continue its success at the next international Valorant tournament.
3. Sentinels
When the Sentinels won Masters: Reykjavik 2021, it was the culmination of the North American team's impressive success. The Sentinels have been a strong team since they were formed in spring 2020 and finished the year as a semi-finalist in First Strike: North America. Then they won the Stage 1 Masters for the North American region in early 2021. They followed up as the first international champions in Reykjavik and included Valorant top player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, formerly on loan from Cloud9. They have also qualified for the Masters: Berlin and Champions, but their performance has dwindled as the year went on. The Sentinels may have been the best team in Valorant's early history , but since then other teams have outstripped them.
4. Acend
Acend wraps up 2021 at the top of the Valorant esports landscape. So much so that as winners of Champions 2021, they became the champions of Valorant's first world championship . Congratulations again. Winning Champions carries a little more weight than winning a Masters event, but that's not the only reason they're fourth on this list. Acend was also the European Stage 1 Masters champion. Like other Tier 1 Masters champions Gambit and Sentinels, Acend has added an international title to its regional championships in 2021.
5. DRX
Outside of the Sentinels and Gambit, the Vision Strikers (acquired by DRX) were one of the teams that were most excited in late 2020 and early 2021. With a 102-game winning streak, the team formerly known as Vision Strikers was recognized as one of the best. They won First Strike Korea and Stage 1 Masters Korea. No other team in any region has won their First Strike and Tier 1 Masters tournaments. However, the big question that hung over the team was how weak territory their success stemmed from. Not qualifying for Masters: Reykjavik 2021 was a blow to their reputation, but they qualified for Masters: Berlin and made it to the playoffs. They started 2022 strong. The team, now known as DRX, is the Masters:continues to be. Likewise with Valorant.
6. Team Liquid
After Gambit and Acend, Team Liquid has been the most stable strong team in Europe. They were semi-finalists at Champions and qualified for Masters: Reykjavík in both 2021 and 2022. Last year at Masters: Reykjavik, Team Liquid finished in the top four. This year, however, they were a playoff team. When Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom joined his brother Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom on this squad in late 2021, the team was unstoppable until the Champions final.
7. KRU
So far, KRU has been the only team to qualify for all three international Masters tournaments and Champions. They were the best team outside of North America and Europe in 2021, but were mostly considered an afterthought until the Champions. Masters: Despite playing the playoffs in Berlin, they were eliminated immediately. At Champions, however, they shocked the world when they beat the Sentinels to qualify in the group stage and eventually knocked out Fnatic in the quarterfinals. Their race ended in the semi-finals after a tough and close match against Gambit. They didn't win any games at Masters: Reykjavik 2022, but given their history as Latin America's top Valorant team , they'll definitely be back for Masters: Copenhagen.
8. ZETA DIVISION
ZETA DIVISION is here after taking third place at this year's Masters: Reykjavík. After going without a win at Masters: Berlin last year, something quite shocking happened. However, in the first few months of Valorant esports history, they were one of the top teams in Japan . Known as Absolute JUPITER, they won First Strike Japan and finished second on the Stage 1 Masters stage of Japan. Now that they've outperformed any Japanese team on the international stage, they're gearing up for a debut year in 2022.
9. Crazy Raccoon
It may seem crazy that Crazy Raccoon is here, but they were representative of Japan at both the Masters tournaments in 2021 and the Champions. They were also the team that beat Japan's Stage 1 Masters Absolute JUPITER (now known as ZETA DIVISION) last year. From then on, they were the top team in Japan despite consistently underperforming at international events.
10. Fnatic
Fnatic rounds up the list of the top 10 Valorant teams in the first two years of the game . They placed second in Valorant's first international tournament, the Masters: Reykjavik 2021. After missing Masters: Berlin, they qualified for the Champions and advanced to the playoffs. They started 2022 as one of the best teams in Europe , but the lack of two starters at Masters: Reykjavík hurt them and they didn't win.
