Dragons are at the center of TFT's latest update, with ultra-powerful units that make up the core set mechanics. Most (but not all) of the best comps in TFT Set 7 will need a Dragon.
What Are the Dragons in TFT Set 7?
Dragons are special TFT Set 7 mechanics . Developer Matthew "Wittrock" Wittrock said in a development video back in May:
" When we landed at Dragonlands, we were excited to build a roster inspired by all sorts of high fantasy stories featuring dragons. We looked at the champion roster to add a few real dragons, and there was plenty to choose from, including Aurelion Sol, Shyvana. We redesigned the League's dragon and dragon-like models to fit one of the seven realms of Dragonlands. "
The dragons themselves are part of a trait that benefits when there is only one on the field, as with the Opponent in Set 6 . When each Dragon aligns with a different realm, they will empower certain champions based on their attributes and their allegiance to that realm.

Ao Shin
- Cost: 10 gold
- Attributes: Storm - Dragon
- Ability — Lightning Rain: Ao Shin fires 20 lightning strikes at random enemies. Each lightning bolt deals 240/400/2500 magic damage and reduces the target's current mana by 20.
Aurelion Sol
- Cost: 10 gold
- Attributes: Astral - Spiritual - Dragon
- Ability — Black Hole: Aurelion Sol creates an unstable black hole below a random enemy. After 2 seconds, the black hole explodes, dealing 325/450/5000 magic damage to all enemies in the area and increasing their damage by 20% for 10 seconds. Black holes created after 20 seconds of combat become larger and deal 1% more damage.
daeja
- Cost: 8 gold
- Traits: Mirage - Dragon
- Ability — Wind Whistle
- Passive: Daeja's attacks unleash three salvos, each dealing 25/40/150 bonus magic damage and reducing the target's magic resist by 5.
- Active: Daeja sends a blast of wind towards the largest enemy group, dealing 250/375/1800 magic damage.
Idas
- Cost: 8 gold
- Attributes: Brilliantflake - Dragon - Guardian
- Ability — Golden Scales: Idas hardens his scales for 2 seconds, reducing his damage taken by 35/50/300. He then roars, healing for 450/550/2500 health and granting other allies a 180/275/2000 shield for 5 seconds. As long as the shield is not broken, it gains 30% attack speed.
Shi Oh Yu
- Cost: 8 gold
- Attributes: Jade - Mystic - Dragon
- Ability — Jade Stance: Shi Oh Yu switches to Jade stance, gaining 20/25/50% damage reduction, immunity to crowd control, and empowering his next 3 attacks with special effects.
- 1st Attack: Deals 325/350/1000% attack damage as physical damage and stuns the target for 1 second.
- 2nd Attack: Inflicts 325/350/1000% attack damage as true damage.
- 3rd Attack: Ends the stance, dealing 325/350/1000% attack power as physical damage to all enemies in a line and knocking them up for 1 second.
Shyvana
- Cost: 10 gold
- Attributes: Furywing - Shapeshifter - Dragon
- Ability — Dragon's Rage: Shyvana assumes her Dragon Form for the remainder of the conflict, replacing her ability with Flame Breath. He then becomes untargetable and then dives into the largest group of enemies, dealing 100/175/500 Magic Damage and stunning them for 2 seconds. Shyvana instantly recasts her Flame Breath after being knocked down.
- Flame Breath: Shyvana blasts a conical area with flame, dealing magic damage equal to up to 50/66/500% of the opponent's maximum health. Shyvana rages as she spews fire.
Sy'fen
- Cost: 8 gold
- Traits: Whisper - Brawler - Dragon
- Ability — Angry: Sy'fen charges the furthest enemy within 2 cells, dealing 400/500/1000% attack damage as physical damage and knocking up any enemies she passes. After charging, Sy'fen bites an enemy, dealing 500/525/2500 attack damage as physical damage and ignoring 50% of the target's armor.
How does the Treasure Dragon work in TFT Set 7?
There is also an eighth dragon to fight in the Dragon Realm: the Treasure Dragon . Anyone can play this dragon as long as you reach tier 4-7. Treasure Dragon offers players the option in the form of an arsenal-like shop.
"The idea is that choices are generally balanced, but there are some uniquely rare moments that cause you to make a trade-off," developer Stephen 'Mortdog' Mortimer said in a private developer AMA.
