After years of speculation and rumors, developer Blizzard has finally unveiled Diablo 4 during its BlizzCon 2019 event. Its existence was already an open secret at the time, but the gory cinematic trailer was a fitting spin on the series, and then we got a look at some familiar character classes.
Following Luis Barriga's departure, Blizzard announced that Diablo 4's new director is Joe Shely. Shely has also worked on various World of Warcraft expansions and Diablo 3, and has been the game's design lead since Diablo 4 began development.
Addressing fans in the October quarterly update , Shely said: “ A lot has happened since our last blog and the hard work must continue to implement the values we aspire to. In parallel with this important work, the development of Diablo IV continues . Over the past few years, we've built a strong team with incredible passion for Diablo IV. You, Diablo's fans, are a critical part of this team. With the help of your valuable feedback, we have continuously improved and deepened the gaming experience. We have a long way to go and although a lot has changed, our commitment to the game is unwavering.”
For Diablo 4's soundscape, Kris Giampa explained that the team " continues the tradition of satisfying combat, expanding the ambiance to support the epic open-world ."
It looks like we will have to show some patience to be able to play Diablo 4. During its 2019 promotion, Blizzard signaled that they won't be releasing Diablo 4 anytime soon. So, when will Diablo 4 be released ?
There's no firm release date for Diablo 4 yet, but Blizzard has confirmed it won't be out in 2021. 2022 is a possibility, but 2023 or 2024 seems more likely according to game directors.
Druid: The shapeshiftingDruid class, one of the first classes announced for Diablo 4. They can use earth- and wind-based powers or transform into animal forms such as wolves or bears.
Barbarian: Barbarians will be in Diablo 4 with their tremendous power and arsenal of weapons.
Sorceress (Wizard): For those who cast traditional elemental magic, this will be the Sorceress class that can throw lightning, ice, and fire at enemies from afar.
Rogue: At BlizzCon 2021, Blizzard added a fourth class to the mix called Rogue, which has not appeared by that name since the original Diablo. In the original Diablo, Rogue was a ranged combat specialist. If you want to go with traps and shadow magic, this class will be the appropriate option. When it comes to weapons, the Rogu can wield swords, daggers, bows and crossbows.
Diablo 4's character customization system will allow players to equip their characters with hundreds of unique armor pieces as well as detailed facial and body features. An expanded paint system will allowplayers to customize individual armor pieces or entire outfits " in a variety of colors that still feel grounded and realistic in the world we're building ."
You will be able to change your character's face, hairstyle, beard (beard and eyebrows) and add jewelry (nose piercing or earrings), makeup and body markings such as tattoos or body paint. You will also be able to change the color values of your character's skin, eyes, hair/facial hair and body markings.
Here are some facts about how Diablo 4's online world works :
Enemy levels scale so that friends can always play together.
Dungeons (Dungeons) are special for solo or party players.
When entering a dungeon, you can choose "high granularity" difficulty options.
World events will call players to fight as a group.
There is no option to see other players or disable offline mode, but you can play the whole game alone if you don't want to group up.
